Anna Shave has been appointed as the new Chair of the Foundation for the WA Museum. A Foundation Board member since May 2022 and a member of the Foundation’s Investment Committee, she replaces James McClements.
Ms Shave is a senior investment professional with a combined corporate and financial services background spanning over two decades, working globally between New York and the Asia Pacific.
Ms Shave is a Non-Executive Director on several private company boards, Non-Executive Director of the Australian Investment Council, and Non-Executive Director of Good Sammy Enterprises where she also chairs the Investment Committee.
Ms Shave is deeply committed to the Foundation’s role of providing long-term funding and support to the Western Australian Museum to thrive. “It is an absolute privilege to have been appointed to lead the Board of such an important institution which benefits all West Australians. We believe our Foundation stands as a key pillar in support of the Museum’s work in research and education, and acting as the custodian for our natural, scientific and cultural heritage.”
“Across the Perth metro area and state-wide, our seven museum locations (including in the regions) are at the heart of the social fabric of the community and play a critical part in connecting people and stories. Having spent considerable time as a young person growing up between the Goldfields and Fremantle, visiting the Kalgoorlie and Fremantle Maritime museums was often a highlight. I can appreciate first-hand how important museums are, particularly as a place that encourages curiosity and learning for all.”
“My focus will be on our continued contribution to the WA Museum for the benefit of future generations. We have the opportunity to create a truly meaningful, lasting legacy and I am grateful to be able to embark on this journey alongside the other talented members of our Board.”
Ms Shave thanked outgoing Chair James McClements for his steady determination and visionary leadership with which he guided the Board since 2022. Mr McClements said that Ms Shave’s leadership and investment experience were a clear match for the Chair role. Mr McClements will remain on the Foundation’s Board as a Non-Executive Director and Member of the Investment Committee.
